I recently got engaged to the love of my life on a busy NYC afternoon overlooking one of my favorite fried chicken spots. Trust me, he knows the way to a girls heart. We moved to Arizona in September of '18 and now we're renovating our 1,500 sq ft home. Oh! We also got a puppy named Fern. Together (Fern helps too) we run our Photography business, Paris in June, and Chasing Denisse. I love my little family and I can't wait to share all of our adventures with you!
Creating content wasn't enough for me. I wanted to help others create their own content and elevate their personal brands. My 10+ years of experience in the blogging community and the photography community have allowed me to offer services like Lightroom presets, branding consultations and I can even help you make an incredible media kit. Although social media strategies are constantly changing, it's important to develop your own voice and I love helping people do just that.
It's a really funny and long story, but here's the short version. I was doing a research partnership with a dating site and my assignment was to try the new feature for a few hours, followed by messaging just ONE person. Yep... you guessed it! He was the person I messaged. Some long distance & 2.5 years later, here we are.
For the longest time I used a Canon 5D Mark II with an 85 1.8 on it. I never moved that 85 off of my camera body. For our anniversary, my fiancé Chase, gifted me a Canon 1DX Mark II with a 35mm 1.4, a 50mm 1.2 and a 85 mm 1.2. While I love all of those, I now do not remove the 35mm off of my camera. I'm obsessed!
Find your own voice. This is so important because it's incredibly easy to sound like everyone else. Find the thing that sets you apart. What makes you different? Find out and then do that! You'll be so happy you stayed true to you! Here's a bonus: JUST START. You don't need a million posts or 500 pre taken photos. Start your blog already!
Aside from my own editing tools, my favorite photo editing app is VSCO. I also frequently use Afterlight to add texture to my photos. To organize and plan my feed I use UNUM. To get my life in order, I swear by Fantastical 2, the calendar app. For my e-mail, I'm an Airmail girl through and through. Lastly, for travel (even international) I adore Citymapper.
In short, a Lightroom Preset is basically a filter for your images. You use the software Lightroom (mobile or desktop) to apply the filters to your images. Like VSCO and other editing apps. LR allows you to create your own filters and share them with others. I created filters that preserved the integrity of our melanin. That just means they work well for people of color.
While I love Squarespace and still continue to work with clients through that platform, I needed something that would elevate my brand. Showit was that for me. I had a higher level of customization and an even greater level of customer support. I even got to go visit the Showit offices here in Arizona where their team sat down with me and walked me through their platform.
