Home Renovations and New Beginnings

Happy Monday, babes! We're just 8 days away from my move to Arizona. I'm not freaking out, YOU ARE! Because Chase is the best human alive, he's home getting some work done before I get there. Our biggest concern with moving into his gorgeous house was the carpet. I'm incredibly allergic to dust (a very convenient but uncomfortable allergy). Carpet carries a lot of dust and we don't really have carpet here in the East Coast. It's definitely something I'm not used to and something I feel in my lungs after a few days there. This past weekend Chase and our friend Ted ripped all of the carpeting out of the house. That's four bedrooms, several hallways, and the living room.  It was a ton of work, but I really wouldn't have been able to survive being present during that project. The removal itself was pretty quick. Some carpet slicing and ripping. The fun part is the removal of nails and the scraping of glue. I'm sure it's what everyone's dream holiday weekend looks like. Here's what the house is looking like without carpet. Kind of a cool look if you're into that $3,400 a closet, Brooklyn loft feel. While Chase and I are still trying to figure out a medium when it comes to our design styles, we know we aren't really leaning towards the industrial style. My style is a bit more Mid-Century meets Parisian with a hint of modern. Chase has a very sophisticated rich golfer style. We're working on it. So far I know we'd like plants, an accent emblem rug, a tan couch (more me) and I feel like I really need a green accent velvet chair. As far as the bigger decisions go, we want wood tile for the floors. Something not too dark but not too light either. Wood Tile is a great option when you don't want to invest in actual hardwood floor but you're also not trying to throw laminate on either. For this house we decided we would tastefully renovate with the mindset of making it a home that is just as suitable for a tenant as it would be for us. That just means we can't put in blush pink tile in the bathroom because that's a very particular preference and it might make selling or renting the house a little difficult later on. I know, it took me a long time to accept that. I'm here for you if you need to talk about it.We're so excited for this renovation and we are definitely going to take our time. Because we travel often and we still have the time to adventure, we'll do things as they come. For now our main focus is the Living room, Office and the Master Bedroom. That's where we will spend most of our time. Oh, and the kitchen! Both Chase and I love to entertain guests and so having a comfortable space to do so is crucial. In the meantime, we'll just be skateboarding through an empty house while I try and convince him that everyone who lives in the house after we move in will absolutely love customized kitchen cabinets in a ridiculous color.Wish me luck!
