Finding The Light with Aylo

When you think of LIGHT, what do you think of? As a photographer and creator I think of one of the most intimidating things I’ve had to deal with. I don’t know lighting and I usually hire a lighting tech for shoots. Even for my personal stuff, lighting is just so overwhelming. Sometimes I just need a tool that amplifies the glow I already possess. Well friends, I’ve found it. The PERFECT addition to your creator kit.

MEET AYLO

AYLO is brought to you by my friends who made one of the MOST INCREDIBLE tools, the DOP. The DOP is that tool that’s allowing me to mount my phone to most surfaces. I have two. It’s a game changer. I HIGHLY recommend. Now before we get into my personal experience with AYLO, let’s get into some details I pulled from their site.

SPECIFICATIONS

AYLO has the ability to detect the color and brightness of each room. That basically means it’s incredibly brilliant, like you! There’s even an APP. The app lets you create PRESETS. This will be a game changer. Okay, hear me out. If you are using AYLO in your bedroom and you find that setting that is a sweet spot, you can save that setting. Same goes for your bathroom(s).

We have two bathrooms, and sometimes one isn’t available or I just want to switch things up when shooting / filming. One of our bathrooms has a window and is much bigger. The other, pictured above, has no windows and is smaller. I can have settings for our main bath and guest bath ready to go. This is something that’s super important to me because I often find lighting can be frustrating.

AYLO says it will bring studio-quality lighting into your everyday beauty routine. As a professional photographer who’s been in the business for almost 11 years now, I can attest to that. I hire lighting techs for projects all the time. This feels like having my own personal lighting tech

Honestly, the most mind blowing part for me is that it’s portable. I have a ring light I got off of Amazon for a little over the AYLO’s pre-order price of $199.00. It comes in a huge case and I need a tripod or stand for it. I can use it on my bathroom counter but the mount is not removable so it’s always awkward and I find myself having to stack it on some books in a strange angle so it doesn’t fall. I also have to manually add diffusers, unlike the AYLO which is DOUBLY Diffused. So the 144 LED’s in the AYLO shine inward onto a reflector and then bounce to the second point of diffusion. I have no idea HOW or WHAT EVEN, but they did that!!!! It’s literally magical!

A question I know I’ll get a lot is what if don’t want to mount or hold it? Remember this is a NEW product and it’s up for pre-order. So accessories and game changing additions are soon to come. But here’s a sneak preview of what they’re working on now. The Zoom Stand! AHHH!! I’m so excited.

WHO ITS FOR

Whether you’re a content creator, videographer, photographer or you just want to elevate the light in your space so that you can slay that face beat or those selfies, this is for you. So basically, the answer is everyone. With video being so huge now, I could really see content creators benefiting from this. Think of how easy this will be to take on your next adventure. Or even using it for a shoot out in the dark. The possibilities are endless!
