Living Room Tour with Joybird
It’s been such a long time coming, but we are FINALLY here. I get to share a tiny bit of our home with you all. If you’ve been following along since last November, you’ll remember how we basically gutted our entire house. Ripped the carpets out, painted, knocked down walls. We did the works! Although we’re still working on a few other things, I wanted to share our living room with you.
We’vepartnered with our friends at Joybird, and ugh.. have we turned thisarea around? Before I dive into each piece, why we chose these pieces and ourplans with this space for the future, let me show you a few before images.

I will share that choosing these pieces was probably one of the hardest things we had to do during our decor process. Mostly because I was trying to get away with having like 12 couches, 4 media consoles and like 13 chairs. EVERYTHING JOYBIRD MAKES IS SO GORGEOUS!
Chasedidn’t completely disagree, but he did make good points about space, and how weprobably wouldn’t have any if I chose every single piece I loved. So after lotsof research, printing out images of the pieces and sticking them to the wall,dinner date conversations about chairs, and imaging our perfect sofa, here’swhat we chose.
The Pieces
For our sofa, we went with Joybird’s Eliot Leather Sofa in the color Santiago Ale & Mocha. When I tell y’all this is my DREAM sofa, it’s because it is my dream sofa. It’s a timeless, sophisticated piece that really elevates our space. What I love the most about it, is that even though it is all of those things, it’s still incredibly comfortable and it has a bit of a casual factor that fits with our personal styles. A little bit extra, a lot of bit of comfort.
We also chose the Eliot Leather Chair in the same color, Santiago Ale & Mocha, to match. This is also comfortable and seems to be Ferns chair now. You know in the movies, how it’s usually dad or grandpa who has the favorite chair? There’s a throw and a pillow. He gets in it every night after dinner and reads the paper or does his crossword puzzle. I’ve always wanted that chair. Now that we have it, it’s not Chases’ preferred chair or mine. Our dog is the dad in this movie. Fern has a chair y’all.
Iknow you’re also wondering if they’re kid and pet friendly. While de don’t havechildren, we Fern, who is a small tornado. The leather we chose has adaptedvery well to her love and affection for the couch and it’s been very easy toclean. Although I will note that we only allow her on the furnitureperiodically, and we do make an effort to take care of all of our furniture andprized possessions. Like anything, if you take care of it, it will wear welland last a life time.
I think the next piece is both my favorite and Chase’s. Our media console is also from Joybird. It is the Williams Media Console. While it is currently unavailable (keep checking back for updates), it is a dream. I’m a sucker for a good record player and some records. Especially since a lot of the records that I have are inherited from my late grandfather, Nino. I’m so happy to have a place where I can store the records that mean the most to me while also having it be functional enough to store other important things.
I’ll be 100% honest with you. I hate clutter. We heavily considered this when choosing a console. The Williams Console has a lot of inconspicuous storage. It has the area for records, as I mentioned. It also has four drawers that we use to store remotes, card games, some manuals, etc. There is the sliding door portion that is so spacious. We have some board games, a PlayStation and other misc. items.
We also love the length of the Williams console. It is 90” w x 19” d x 28” h. This was particularly important for us because we have a pretty long wall where our TV goes. Speaking of our TV, it fits perfectly right above the console. And since you guys know I’m an intense plant lady (self-professed of course), I still have room on top of the console to have some plants, styled pieces, and my record player. All of that without being obtrusive or distracting from the TV.
Overall,we chose colors that would pair with the rest of our furniture and our generalstyle. Neutrals with muted undertones. We also chose our pieces before buyingour accessories, naturally. Choosing the colors we selected was great becausewe found that in doing so we were able to really incorporate any sort of art orcolor we wanted without it clashing.
Here’sa bonus
We were also gifted this beautiful Soto Chair from Joybird. We thought it’d be a great piece for the living room, but I loved it so much I put it in my office where I spend 75% of my time. Our Soto Chair has a Walnut finish with a gorgeous color called “Bentley Daisy” for the cushions. This spot is probably my favorite spot in the house. You can find me curled up in “Gemma” as I’ve named her, with a good book, a cup of tea, or just my phone. It’s sort of my escape from all the work that gets done in here. It’s also a great seat for guests or friends when they come over and hang in the office with me.
Theordering process
