Olivia’s Dreamy Nursery

chasingdenisse-nursery-reveal-5413.jpg

Six weeks into being home with our bunny and we are FINALLY (well almost) done with the nursery. There are a few frames we’re putting up with photos that have yet to be taken, but for the most part, we are there! I was on Pinterest sort of looking at what people describe their nursery as. It seems everyone has a specific style. There’s Boho, Modern, Minimal, etc. We don’t really have much of a style. Maybe Mid-Century Modern, but this is mostly just a joining of all of the things we like and felt went well together. Dreamy-Modern-Boho-Reading-Rainbow-Chic?

Now, this is going to be a lengthy one. I’ll be linking almost everything we have here. Some links will be affiliate links, and some won’t. A lot of the nursery furniture and products were gifted to us from our registry, or directly from the brands themselves. Just wanted to make sure I’m super transparent about that. Throughout this tour, I’ll be sharing the things we use and love. I’ll save the things we didn’t find useful or absolutely did not love for another post.

FURNITURE & DECOR

If you’ve been here before, you may have seen my post about our Baby Letto nursery project. If you haven’t, you can check out the post HERE. There I share a little more about the brand itself as well as links to the furniture. But in this post, I’ll only be sharing links to the furniture. I will note that if you care about the environment, people, and the brands you have in your home, Baby Letto is AMAZING and we highly recommend them.

For our crib, we went with the Sprout 4-in-1 convertible crib. For our dresser/changing table, we went with the matching Sprout 3-Drawer Changer Dresser. The Sprout collection has a mid-century modern feel to it, and it matches the aesthetics of the rest of our home which I really love. Though the nursery has its own charm and aesthetic, I did want something that was cohesive. Both pieces were incredibly easy to set up. I mean, from what my husband says, lol. I didn’t set anything up. I just pointed to where I wanted things to go. And if you follow me on Instagram, you’ll remember how many times we changed this room around before coming to a final decision.

I think one of the most important pieces in a nursery is the gilder. Our glider is the Cali Pillowback Swivel Glider from Babyletto. It is super comfortable, beautiful, and easy to put together. I will say the only thing that isn’t my favorite about this is that if you own a dog that sheds or you yourself shed, it’s definitely going to accumulate some hair. We have a dog with black hair and my curly hair sometimes ends up in the cushions. Though it’s stain-resistant and moisture repellant, making it easy to clean, removing the hair is a little tedious but not impossible. I think that goes for ANY piece of furniture that is light-colored and made from fabric. So it’s not specific to Babyletto, but something to keep in mind if you’re not into maintenance. The throw pictured above is West Elm’s Luxe Chenille Throw in Dusty Blush. SO soft and comfortable!

This is arguably the most important corner of the nursery. From our experience in the past six weeks, it’s where we spend most of our time with Olivia. Feeding her, soothing her, trying to put her back to sleep, etc. So we wanted to add some items that were both beautiful and practical. Luckily, having a neutral glider gave us ample room to do that. We paired our glider with The Auburn Ottoman and the Mitzi Nightstand from West Elm. The Ottoman wasn’t my first purchase. We actually ordered and received another one from a different company and I absolutely hated it. This one took a bit to get here, but it was SO worth the wait. It’s sturdy, and it doesn’t take up too much space. Something that was actually really important since the room is rather small.

The Mitzi Nightstand is actually from West Elm as well. If you follow me on Instagram, you saw that I just wrapped an incredible campaign with West Elm. They gifted us these gorgeous decor pieces from their West Elm Kids Collection that really spruced up the space. This particular piece was not gifted to us by the brand but by my sweet chosen sister, @AllThingsAda. I didn’t want anything bulky or bottom-heavy. We literally just needed somewhere to set a bottle down and a few other things. It comes in a few colors, and I almost asked for the white one, because we know how I feel about color, lol, but this one is PERFECT!

Although we have the well-known Hatch Rest+ that you see there on the nightstand, I really wanted an actual lamp in there. But I wanted something that wouldn’t take up too much space. Our first lamp was a little bulky and not as flexible. We received this one from our West Elm collab and we’re absolutely in love. This Linear Wood Floor Lamp is stunning! I love that you can bend it in different ways so that it can be completely upright, or at an angle as you see above. It’s easy to turn as well so we can have it facing the glider or facing the changing table. Honestly, in a nursery, the more practical and versatile things are, the better.

Speaking of the Hatch Rest+, we are obsessed. Olivia really loves the white noise and the lights. My Sister-in-Law actually shared some great tips with me about how she taught her twins cues based on the color of the lights. There are just SO MANY options and things you can do with this. I love the Hatch Rest+ because it’s also portable. So you can have it plugged in, or you can unplug it when it’s charged and take it to a different room with you. It’s also a two-way audio monitor, so you can hear your baby through the app. It features an LED clock as well which we use all the time to log her feedings. I turn on the sound machine before I get to the room. I can also change the color to let her know I hear her, or I’m coming in. Best of all, you can control all of this through their app. It’s amazing!!

There is a Hatch Baby Rest Sound Machine and Night Light available as well. It costs a bit less than the Hatch Rest+ with similar features. After much research, we decided to add the Hatch Rest+ to our registry. After being gifted that one, I grabbed the Hatch Restore for our bedroom. It’s basically a sleeker more adult version for your room. We run the white noise from there too when she’s in the bassinet in our room. Safe to say we’re big fans of Hatch here.

Our changing table is pretty simple. I love that the tray is detachable. Chase loves the tray, and I love the dresser without it. For now, we’re keeping it on. There isn’t much difference except we have a wipe warmer that doesn’t fit into the cubbies. All that to say that you have options that can help adjust to your needs and preferences. I’m planning on posting a nursery favorites post soon. There I’ll go into detail with the actual products that we love, but I cannot write this post without sharing Coterie Diapers with ya’ll. The brand gifted us a few newborn packs and after that, we were sold. We now have a subscription we signed up for and can’t imagine going without. These diapers feel like cashmere and dreams about cotton candy and student loan relief. If you do grab some, you can use the code COTERIEDENISSE for $20 off your first purchase. I’ll go into super detail another time, because I know these are a lot more costly than the other well-known diaper brands. But trust me.. they’re worth it.

You’ll notice we don’t have a ton of stuff on the walls. Well, in my opinion, it’s not a ton. But we wanted to add pieces that we love and could grow with Olivia. Our friends at West Elm gifted us this Fringe Cloud Mirror. It’s fun, useful and I love the texture that the fringe adds. Great for when she starts getting into more advanced sensory development. We did babyproof it, which I recommend for anything you put on the wall. Especially near a changing table. Babies LOVE to grab on to anything they can while they’re squirming through a diaper change.

Another West Elm gem we have is the Moon Shaped Shelf. We have a minimal amount of stuff on there, but it is large enough to fit several books and trinkets. It’s quite sturdy and easy to install. I placed a lot of the special items we were gifted on this shelf. My favorite is this wooden camera/music box. As a photographer, I thought this was a really sweet treat for her room.

I saw this Aiden Wooden House Shelf from Ellie & Becks on the explore page on Instagram and I knew I HAD to have it for Olivia’s room. It’s great storage for now, and we can turn it into an actual dollhouse. I also LOVE that it comes in a neutral wood color because later on if she decides she wants to paint it or spruce it up, that’s a project she can do with her dad. Another idea, you can add a backing to it and turn it into a whole ordeal. Wall-papered rooms, little furniture, dolls, etc. Just such an amazing piece.

The closet is still a work in progress. With such a rough pregnancy, a pandemic, and just an overwhelming time, we didn’t really have the bandwidth to remodel the closet like we wanted to. So for now, this will do. Our dresser is also from Babyletto. It’s the Sprout Dresser in Natural wood. We received that one by accident, but due to the pandemic, returns weren’t accepted so we got lucky with the extra storage. Eventually, when she gets older and she becomes more expressive with her style, we can change the knobs on the dresser. Dino’s, flowers, gems, etc.

For storage, we LOVE these Velvet non-slip hangers. They come in 8 different color options and packs of 30 or 50. For the baskets on the top shelf, we got these Round decorative baskets from Target. Great for extra stuffed animals, blankets, swaddled, and anything else you may want to store in there.

Shameless plug here… our amazing friend Anna of @Banannabones made Olivia this custom leather jacket, and to say we are obsessed is an understatement. We knew her name pretty early on. I’m thankful for that because naming a human feels a little overwhelming. But we knew we loved Olivia and it’s also the name of one of my chosen sisters. Lucile is Chase’s paternal grandmother’s name. She passed around the same time we found out we were expecting. We wanted her middle name to be a family name and this felt like a fitting way to honor that. The blankets pictured above were actually made by Grandma Lucile and gifted to us by Chase’s aunt. Such a special part of her room and we’re glad to have heirlooms like this.

You’ve probably seen these shelves everywhere. I found them on Pinterest, so I’m right there with you. These are the IKEA FLISAT Shelves. They’re great for books and small stuffies. Books are MY FAVORITE and I’m hoping she’s really into them too. These books here and many not pictured were gifted to us by our amazing friends. I made it a point to ask that people not gift us too many toys, but rather lots and lots of books. I remember story time being one of my favorite moments spent with my parents. Later on, I remember Friday’s at the library were something I looked forward to doing with my dad. Today as an adult, I LOVE books. Fingers crossed it’s something she gets!!

chasingdenisse-nursery-reveal-5373.jpg

Though we don’t have a ton of toys in here, I saw these over at West Elm and immediately fell in love. This Plush Unicorn Rocker obviously matched our color scheme. However, if you remember a few years ago, I was OBSESSED with unicorns. If unicorns aren’t your thing, there’s a Plush Tiger Rocker too that is very very cute. The Wooden Shopping cart is also from West Elm. Pausing really quick to let you know that their new kid’s collection is AMAZING!! I instantly loved the when I saw it online. I could already picture us freaking out while looking for our wallets and keys. Meanwhile, Miss Olivia went on a shopping spree throughout the house. A random paper, utensil, toys, and any other random object she can get her hands on. It’s also pretty sturdy where it won’t tip over, so with supervision, it’s a great tool to help her get to walkin’.

chasingdenisse-nursery-reveal-5382.jpg

Our rug was gifted to us by our friends at Rugs USA. I know not everyone does rugs in nurseries, but we have hardwood tile all throughout the house. I was really nervous that once she starts crawling or walking she’d tip over and hurt herself. So after very little thought, we knew it was practical and necessary to have a rug in her room. This is the Silver Florid Dreams Silver Rug. We initially got it for our living room, but once the accessories and gifts started coming in, we noticed that colors matched the tones of the rug and it fit in the room PERFECTLY. It’s easy to clean, and soft enough where we can hang out on it though we do have play mats and things like that.

Saving the best for last because this was such a hit on my Instagram. The Neon Cloud LED light we have above her crib is adorable. I kind of want to see if she’ll notice it’s gone and ends up in my office. I too am obsessed with the Cloud light. It’s not too bright where it disturbs her, but it’s bright enough where now at 6 weeks, she looks up at it and you can see the sweet mesmerized look on her face.

I’m so in love with our sweet space. A huge thank you to our friends at BabyLetto, West Elm, Rugs USA, and all of our family & friends who purchased something from our registry. Thank you for making Olivia’s space a dream.
